Initial Thoughts
Our brand experience runs from naming to global ad campaigns. So where should we begin?
Circle the wagons.
We’ll gather the key players (partners and anyone else) into a video call and dig into who Playground is, where Playground is going, what is driving us, etc.

These work sessions are meant to be group exercises. We want debate.

We’ll ask the questions and see where you take us.
While we want to leave room for where that discussion and hard work will take us, we also have a hunch.
‍
VCs earn a reputation based on their particular area of expertise, or big name leadership or business style.
Those reputations are meaningful, but they don’t tell people much about what they can expect when working with them.

They all tend to bleed together when it comes to painting a picture of what a VC actually stands for.
Can you match each brand with it's super unique sales line?
A Quick Game
Don’t be like everyone else.
Because you’re not like everyone else. It's not worth talking about all the attributes that have become table stakes. We should explore connecting:
We need to make the brand feel like the proof is in the pudding.
You are CURRENTLY known for:
Tinkerers
Fun
Hardware driven
Coworking
Inventive
Google-like
You want to be MORE known for:
Thought leadership
Providing business structure
Mentoring your companies operationally
Showing a pathway to success
Connecting to real world need
Bleeding edge of tech
What We Heard
We need to naturally evolve these attributes so your firm still feels authentic to your DNA.
Stand for something beyond a tagline.

In addition to all of the things that make Playground a desirable VC, you have a personality.
Personality opens up a world of marketing.
With a personality, you have a voice and tone. You have likes and dislikes. You have looks and feels. You can have a deep bench and deep expertise that can grow and change. You have something that is more human than object. It can adapt to your work and the environment and the day’s news.

Just like a person’s personality, Playground’s personality will lead each aspect of the brand's decision making.
That means we’ll want to think about every aspect of Playground’s brand and determine how it comes to life and responds to life based on its personality.
Don’t completely drop the DNA of Playground, you’ll seem inauthentic.

Connect the idea of imagination and entrepreneurs to real business sense.

Launch with a mantra that gathers the right sentiment, and then prove it with the brand pieces.
